WE CONTINUE TO WORK FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN SERVICES TO OLDER PEOPLE AND CAMPAIGN VIGOROUSLY, FOR AND WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS, IN THE FIGHT FOR A DECENT BASIC PENSION AND AN END TO MEANS TESTING.
WE HAVE CALLED ON THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE THAT:
Older people are supported by the Scottish Parliament in their fight for a decent State Pension
Care Services for older people are properly funded and integrated
Age discrimination is eradicated in the Health Service
The concessionary travel scheme is extended throughout Scotland to include rail and ferry travel
Adequate housing is available, suitable to meet an older persons’ needs, with ready access to grants and subsidies
Older people have the right to participate in bodies which deal with their concerns and to have their views taken into account.
CAMPAIGNING IS NOT RESTRICTED TO SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT. WE CAMPAIGN AT WESTMINSTER ON ISSUES SUCH AS:
THE NEED TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF THE BASIC STATE PENSION
AN END TO MEANS TESTING
RESTORATION OF THE LINK TO EARNINGS OF PRICES
THE 25P AGE ADDITION FOR THE OVER 80S
PENSIONERS’ AND INCOME TAX
