Scottish Election Manifesto 2011
Pensions/Benefits
- Immediate increase in the Basic State Pension above the official poverty level to at least £173 per week.
- Restoration of index linking with wages or prices (RPI) – whichever is the greatest.
- Increase Winter Fuel allowance to end fuel poverty.
Travel
- A properly designed and adequately funded public transport system.
- Concessionary Travel Scheme to be valid across the United Kingdom and to access rail and ferry services, and to include ‘community travel schemes’
- Additional funding designed to improve accessibility for older and disabled people and their carers.
Environment/Energy
- Put an end to the undermining of our communities.
- Recycling of waste is encouraged bearing in mind problems of older people.
- Provide affordable energy via social tariffs from all energy suppliers.
Participation
- Older people have the right to particiapte in bodies, which deal with their concerns, and to have their views taken into account.
Other Demands.
- All MSPs to fight to maintain the current grant under the Barnett formula
- Prevent public sector service cuts.
- A fair system based on ability to pay Council Tax
